Best movies on Disney Plus come from one of the biggest movie libraries in the world and it exists on Disney.
Disney might have started as a studio making only animated movies or cartoons for kids. But over the years it grew and grew and now holds a few of the world’s best movie franchises and movies. All of which are available on Disney Plus streaming service.
Among the best movies on Disney Plus are the Avengers or most of the MCU movies. All of its iconic cartoons like the Lion King to Ratatouille.

Because I know Disney Plus movies can be hard to choose from. Such a big variety of movies on Disney Plus. So, reading through this article. You will be able to find yourself the best movies to watch on Disney Plus, and what’s on Disney Plus in general.
Hamilton (2020)
Director: Thomas Kail
Writers: Lin-Manuel Miranda (book), Ron Chernow (inspired by the book Alexander Hamilton by)
Stars: Lin-Manuel Miranda, Phillipa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr.
One of the newest shows and the best movies on Disney plus that just came in is Hamilton. I personally just have watched it a couple of days ago, and I loved it.
However, I was like what’s there that I already don’t know about this dude. Nor do I care to find out. And seeing that it was performed in theatre, I came in with the lowest expectations.
Never thought, theatre performances could be so good and vivid. Especially in the age when we don’t want to finish up the article without any pictures. Because it looks so boring.
But Hamilton took my breath away from the very first scene. From the introduction, I got glued so badly into watching it. I did not hear kids shouting and playing right outside my apartment. Turns out they were bothering the whole damn building🤦.
To anyone who asks what to watch on Disney plus ever since. I have been strongly recommending this movie. It is simply the best among the best movies to watch on Disney plus.
This is simply one of the best theatre shows I have ever watched in my entire life and surely among the best movies on Disney plus.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1937)
Directors: William Cottrell, David Hand
Writers: Jacob Grimm (fairy tales) (as Grimm), Wilhelm Grimm (fairy tales) (as Grimm)
Stars: Adriana Caselotti, Harry Stockwell, Lucille La Verne |
This iconic cartoon from 1937 is one that brought multiple generations up including your author and probably you too. Because it has been running for more than half a century now. It is displayed as one of the best movies on Disney plus.
There are so many iconic and legendary songs, and scenes and lines from this cartoon. I cannot find one particular to recite.
This is in a sense Cindrella’s story better told. I am comparing the two movies. Well if I did we most definitely find a lot of similarities in the story and the way its depicted😉.
It is the movie that made Disney so popular worldwide and made a crap ton of money. The success of the movies is incomparable to any other show or movie in history.
The fact that it is available as Disney plus movies, makes me think that Disney had it with it, made all the possible money and sold all the toys and everything, and finally released on stream.
Ratatouille (2007)
Directors: Brad Bird, Jan Pinkava (co-director)
Writers: Brad Bird (screenwriter), Jan Pinkava (original story by)
Stars: Brad Garrett, Lou Romano, Patton Oswalt
Ratatouille is one of the best Pixar movies on Disney plus, but also one of the best ever made. If you have never watched this incredible piece of animation then you are missing out on a lot.
This flick uses the right combination of comedy and realisticity that relates to everyone from small ages kids to adults. Ratatouille is but the definition of the best movies on Disney Plus. Because it is not just about a rat becoming a chef its about the artistry and chasing your dreams etc. etc.
An animated movie that teaches kids to have passion and love for what you do, find that field is for me like the only movie I’d recommend to watch on Disney plus.
Also, among the best movies to watch on Disney plus. Ratatouille definitely comes up on top and it should as one of the best pieces of useful entertainment.
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
Director: Rob Marshall
Writers: P.L. Travers (based upon the “Mary Poppins” stories by) (as PL Travers), David Magee (screen story by)
Stars: Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw
If you have never taken part in the magical adventures of the Mary Poppins in your childhood now would be the time. Because Mary Poppins is returned and is now available to watch on Disney plus.
You do not need to have the original watched to get its lessons about love, family, and hope. The 2019 version builds on the foundations of the old and makes this one of the best movies on Disney plus. All the more reasons to go back to Christmas of the previous year from your couch.
It might not have received all the acclaim and the accolades but it still gives you good and happiness. It is one of those best old movies on Disney plus except remade with better visuals and music.
Wall-e (2008)
Director: Andrew Stanton
Writers: Andrew Stanton (original story by), Pete Docter (original story by)
Stars: Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, Jeff Garlin
Before writing this article I went through the movies that I had not watched before. Wall-E came up among them. So I knew I had to watch it. If I wanted to include it among the best movies on Disney plus.
However, Wall-e despite being the obvious story of Adam and Eve. Not sure how obvious but you could actually get it from the fact that wall-e’s crush is named Eve. 😉
This is a delightful parable filled with entertainment, thought-provoking messages, and being poignantly profound takes the audience love right out of their boxy stomach 😂.
Wall-e is like a tale of the past with a visionary futuristic vision that speaks to the people of the earth today. Among the best movies on Disney plus wall-e is the one that upholds Pixar’s legacy and stays as the best Pixar movies to watch on Disney plus.
The Lion King (2019)
Director: Jon Favreau
Writers: Jeff Nathanson (screenplay by), Irene Mecchi (based on “The Lion King” screenplay by)
Stars: Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen
The underdogs at Disney who made this movie a masterpiece and a global phenomenon did not all come back to remake their legendary film for the next time, however, it still worked because it made more than a billion dollars at the box office.
Even though it is the same tale of Simba and his long journey to gaining back his kingdom after talking to his Dad, like Moses once did, I kind of see biblical similarities again but perhaps it’s just me😉
But this time, the film is like the Nat Geo documentary, which makes it unique and one of a kind in today’s animation movie genre, and one of the best movies on Disney plus.
If you ever wondered what it would be like to animate a movie so well and realistic then you would get this very Lion King version.
MCU Universe
By this time, I did not bother to stop for every single one of the Disney plus movies from the Marvel universe, since we know there have not been any new movies everything else is available to watch.
It is hard to say one is the and the other is not since they all are best movies on Disney plus. However, you could find a few best old movies on Disney plus to watch like the Hulk or Iron man both of which are incredible.
I won’t spend much time on in the Marvel Universe since we all know what this is and how good they are, and Disney is lucky to have acquired it. Because now there is always an answer to the question of what to watch on Disney plus.
Onward (2020)
Onward is one of the latest Disney plus movies that has both an incredible story and visuals but also is one of the best Pixar movies on Disney plus.
It is an animated movie that is again meant for a wide range of audiences, even adults could watch it and enjoy it.
Adults can enjoy it not because we all were kids at some point in our lives and can relate to it, although it is a big part of why, but also because the premise is based on is universal and easily relatable.
It certainly is one of the best movies on Disney plus filled with magical creatures and adventures that will keep you entertaining throughout the whole runtime.
Aladdin (2019)
Director: Guy Ritchie
Writers: John August (screenplay by), Guy Ritchie (screenplay by)
Stars: Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott
There might have been some mixed reviews and some people not liking the movie, however, it made more than a billion dollars. And that alone is a huge indicator of success.
I personally loved the songs, and the music, choreography, especially the acting. Well, we all are familiar and know the story and it seems a bit boring if it is still fresh from the animated movie.
It, in fact, was quite fresh in my mind, because the animated one literally took the world by storm.
Aladdin 2019 is one of the best old movies on Disney plus, that was made in a whole new world, I mean way. Yet still succeeds. Obviously Smith’s genie is in no way comparable with Williams.
Will Smith is a good actor, don’t get me wrong or anything, he just ain’t Robin Williams.
Stargirl (2020)
Director: Julia Hart
Writers: Kristin Hahn (screenplay by), Julia Hart (screenplay by)
Stars: Grace VanderWaal, Graham Verchere, Giancarlo Esposito
No this is not your DC’s star girl, although it would be awesome to have both the MCU and the DC on one platform and able to watch them all.
This is the truest example of a Manic Pixie Dream girl trope that many movies have had been using lately.
If you don’t know what it is, I will explain so that you could already get the meaning of the whole movie from that alone. It is a way of making movies when a girl is always fun and happy and meets is a boy who is the opposite and teaches and changes that boy to be happy and fun as if we boys could not change ourselves.
Although it is such a trope genre movie, it is fun and entertaining to watch if you are a teenager or in your early twenties with fresh memories of your high school years, or just bored as heck and curious to know what to watch on Disney plus.
Pirates of the Caribbean (2003-2017)
Pirates of the Caribbean does not need any introduction or explanation, especially for the first trilogy. If I were to refresh your memory it is simply one of the best trilogy ever made which makes it one of the best movies on Disney plus to watch.
The writing, cinematography, direction, and pretty much everything else is so well executed and perfectly made it is the best old movies on Disney plus you can still enjoy it even if you watched it before.
You should never wonder what’s on Disney plus ever again because you have this series but also because you have a series that I am about to write next.
Star Wars (1977-2019)
The series that I just promised I would write about, voila already here 😉, I know what you are thinking it is not funny, and yes you are right it is not. What do you know what it is?
It is one of the best movies on Disney plus, in fact, it is simply one of the best movie trilogies ever made.
If there was ever a man who could make three movies in a budget less than $100 million for all three yet made more than a billion out of them, it would be George Lucas.
It has been almost half a century but these movies still keep being made and produced, and by the way, Disney keeps earning, it does not seem like it is going to stop any time soon.
Zootopia (2016)
Directors: Byron Howard, Rich Moore
Writers: Byron Howard (story by), Rich Moore (story by)
Stars: Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba
Usually, best movies on Disney plus have visual appeal and of the top casting, and acting but what makes them really good, or particularly this one is its writing.
It might use all of Disney style characters and structure that it has built over the centuries. But it is at the same time very heartwarming.
It’s like you build a magical bond with the characters and venture through the movie together with them, worrying when they are worried, happy when they are happy, and excited when they are excited slowly becoming a citizen of Zootopia.
It is an incredible flick that deserved to win the Oscars and the billions of dollars it made. So it surely takes a proud place in the best movies on Disney plus list.
In Closing
Disney has quite the variety of the best movies on Disney Plus streaming and finding the right one can be hard mainly because almost all of them are really damn good.
Despite Disney having one of the biggest libraries of good movies to watch, you will surely enjoy the ones recommended here.
These are the movies that are meant for all ages, and tastes, in fact for anyone and everyone who enjoys good visual entertainment, with a story that enhances it to the levels of the masterpiece.
Because all we have in this page are masterpieces in their own right and must be regarded as such and certainly as the best movies on Disney Plus.
